I am chosen
I had someone question my abilities all because of my disability!
She questioned how I could look after a family, a home, how I could spend time volunteering at my church all by looking at me. I felt so small, worthless, and I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole. How can such judgments be made without knowing me, who I am, where I come from and what makes me, me. It made me question myself, what I was doing with my life, was I enough for my son, my husband and my friends.
I unpacked it all with a close friend, and she simply reminded me that my worth, who I am is not rooted in the thoughts and views of strangers. Who I am is rooted in Christ and I needed to re-focus my gaze on Him. I turned to a favourite worship song of mine, ‘I am who you say I am’ and looked closely at the lyrics…
‘I am chosen, not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me, not against me
I am who you say I am
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God, yes I am’
Though people in this world may come against me from time to time because of how I look, how I walk, my height, it doesn’t matter for the truth is, God is for me, He is with me, He values me and to Him, I am significant. The same goes for you, you have a special place in the Father’s heart, and He adores you, He sees you, to Him, you are significant.
Remember I am penned in love and so are you!
